Did you know that the biggest cookie ever made was in 2003? The massive sweet treat, measuring 5 feet 8 inches in diameter and weighing 1,224 pounds, was made by the Immaculate Baking Company. It was baked in Flat Rock, North Carolina and contained 36,000 individual pieces of dough. The cookie contained a whopping 180 pounds of butter, 900 pounds of brown sugar, 1400 pounds of white sugar, 535 pounds of margarine/shortening and 226 pounds of eggs. It was also flavored with vanilla extract!
The Immaculate Baking Company actually used a modified grain dryer from a local farm to mix and bake all the ingredients for their massive cookie. The mixture was transported on an 18-wheeled truck and poured into a special baking sheet, which was then taken to the oven for baking. It took approximately 45 minutes for the cookie to cook, before being cooled off with fans and weighed afterwards. After cooling, the cookie was cut into 36,000 slices that were given away in school cafeterias across America.
