He had been scouting the area for some time and had seen a few big moose in the past, but nothing as big as this one.
When Suchy spotted the moose, he knew it was an exceptional animal. He estimated its weight to be around 1,800 pounds and its antlers to be over eight feet in spread. He took aim and fired, and when he walked up to the animal he was amazed. The moose was even larger than he had expected.
The moose had been eating a mixture of grass, birch leaves, and some acorns. Suchy believes this diet of nutritious food helped the moose grow so large. The moose was also exceptionally old, estimated to be around 15 years old at the time it was shot.
Suchy’s moose is now the record holder for the biggest moose ever taken. The animal was officially weighed and measured, with the final results being 1,852 pounds and an antler spread of eight feet, nine inches, and an antler circumference of 19 and a half inches.
The moose was mounted and put on display at a local taxidermist and has since become an attraction for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Suchy’s moose is a reminder of the sheer size and power of these animals, and it will remain the biggest moose ever recorded for years to come.
