Named Antilia, this private home built in 2010, is the largest in the world, coming in at 400,000 square feet. Can be found in South Mumbai, India it also happens to be a 27-story skyscraper.
The entire 27 floors are entirely used as residential space by Mukesh Ambani, who is one of the richest men in India. Not only is it the largest “home” in the world, but it is also the most expensive residential property in the world, coming in at over $1 billion.
In addition, it takes up almost an entire city block by itself making it look like more of a commercial building than an actual house.
Over the years, Mukesh Ambani and his family have been criticized for their huge amount of wealth in comparison to most people living in India which is ranked as one of the poorest countries by GDP per capita.
While it may seem like an excessive amount of space for a single-family, Mr. Ambani claims there are all sorts of extravagant amenities within this mansion including its own movie theater and health club among other things.
There’s also one more thing that sets Antilia apart from any other house in the world, its own set of rules. Guests are not allowed into Antilia without an invitation from Mr. Ambani himself and if he is out of town guests can only stay for up to 48 hours at a time.
