The United States is home to more than 50 million people of Russian descent, according to a new report by the Pew Research Center. The most populous U.S. states with large populations of Russians are California, New York and Texas.
Pew’s analysis found that there were about 1.8 million Americans who reported being born in Russia or Ukraine — an increase from 2014 when it was estimated at around 1.7 million. That number includes immigrants as well as those whose parents immigrated before they turned 18 years old.
