How Big Is The Biggest Eagle Nest?

Did you know that the biggest eagle nest ever recorded was 9.5 feet in diameter and 20 feet deep? It was located in St. Petersburg, Florida and built by a pair of bald eagles. The massive structure weighed more than two tons and held a single egg!

As you can imagine, building a nest of this size takes a lot of time and effort. The bald eagles that built it were observed working on it for more than three months. They brought in sticks and branches, sometimes carrying them for more than a mile, to add to the nest. In all, they used more than 400 pounds of material to construct their home!
