The world record for the biggest head is held by the Spanish man, Francisco Domingo Joaquim, who was born in 1982 in Angola. According to Guinness World Records, his head measured a whopping 37.5 inches (95.25 centimeters) in circumference.
The remarkable size of Francisco’s head was first noticed when he was a baby, and it continued to grow as he aged. His condition, known as macromelia, causes excessive growth of the limbs and other body parts, including the head. By the time Francisco was 17, his head had grown to a record-breaking size and he was invited to take part in a television show about medical oddities.
However, Francisco’s large head posed many health risks, including problems with his vision, balance and hearing. He also found it difficult to find hats that fit him and he had to be extra careful when going out in the sun. Despite this, Francisco was determined to live a normal life.
In order to learn more about Francisco’s condition, doctors carried out a number of tests. It was discovered that his skull was made of a heavier and thicker bone than normal, which was the cause of his extraordinary head size.
Although Francisco was able to cope with his condition, sadly he passed away in 2013 at the age of 31. His death was attributed to natural causes and his record-breaking head was buried with him. Francisco’s remarkable story has been immortalized in the Guinness World Records, where his name will live on forever.
