Did you know that the fastest dinosaur of all time was the Ornithomimus? It could run up to 45 mph and easily outrun its predators! This two-legged dinosaur was light and quick on its feet, so it could quickly evade dangerous predators. Amazingly, its skull was only a fraction of the size of a modern bird’s, meaning even though it had larger eyes and sharper claws, it still couldn’t compete with the speed of its prey. Its long tail also helped to provide balance while running at high speeds.
Ornithomimus was a two-legged, ostrich-like dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period. It measured up to 10 feet long and was one of the fastest creatures of its time. Its body was agile and light, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour – much faster than any predator at the time.
The Ornithomimus had large eyes and sharp claws which gave it an advantage when looking out for potential danger but in the end, its speed was its greatest protection. Its long tail also helped with balance while running quickly across the landscape. It is believed that this speedy little dinosaur could travel up to 8 km in a single day!
