The largest country in the Arabian Peninsula is Saudi Arabia. It covers an area of 2,149,690 square kilometers (830,000 square miles), making it about one-fifth the size of the United States. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast and Yemen to the south. The Red Sea lies to its west and southwest while its eastern provinces lie on Persian Gulf.
