Cyprus is third largest island in terms of size with an area 9 251 square kilometers .It’s located east of Greece , south Turkey near Syria .The population reaches about 1 170 000 people . Greek Cypriots make up four-fifths of inhabitants while Turkish Cypriots live mainly in north part called “Turkish Republic Of Northern Cyprus “ which only recognized by Turkey .After 1974 war between Greece And Turkey , Cyprus had been divided into two parts which are under different administrations but still considered as one country member of EU since 2004 . Nicosia city considered as capital for whole country although de facto each side have their own capitals (Nicosia for Greek side , Lefkosia for Turkish side)

Corsica comes fourth among biggest islands situated in Mediterranean sea where its size reach 8 680 km2 making it slightly smaller than Cyprus .This French Island lies west coast of Italy near Tuscany region ,its population estimated about 320 000 people most them living along coastline while interior mountains sparsely populated due Corsican language speakers who account less than one-fifth from total residents on this mountainous Island

Lastly we have Crete as fifth biggest Island where its surface reach 8 336 km2 .. This Greek Island located southeast edgeof Aegean sea bordering Libya’s northern shore also Egypt’s easternmost point lies few miles away from Crete across waterway called Cretan sea Although being such big landmass ,Crete only populated by 640 000 residents
