The smallest island of the Greater Antilles is Cuba. The island is about the size of the US state of Rhode Island and has a population of over 11 million people. Cuba is located in the Caribbean Sea, about 90 miles (145 km) south of Florida and just over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from Mexico. It is the largest island in the Caribbean and has an area of 109,884 square kilometers (42,426 square miles).
