What Country Has the Largest Population

The world’s most populous country is China, with a population of over 1.4 billion people. This number is more than four times the population of the United States, and more than one-fifth of the population of the entire planet. The sheer number of people living in China has led to it being called the most populous nation on Earth.

China’s population is made up of a number of different ethnicities, the most prominent of which are the Han Chinese. This largest ethnic group makes up roughly 92 percent of the total population, while other minority groups make up the remaining 8 percent. The largest of these minority groups are the Zhuang, Manchu, Hui, Miao, Uyghur, Tujia, Yi, Mongol, and Tibetan peoples.

China’s population is not evenly distributed throughout the country, however. In fact, the population is heavily concentrated in the eastern and southeastern regions. The most densely populated region is the Yangtze River Delta, which includes Shanghai, the most populous city in China. This region is home to roughly one-third of China’s population. The only other region with a similarly large population is the Pearl River Delta, which includes the cities of Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

The population of China is growing rapidly, with the population increasing by an average of 0.5 percent each year. This is due in part to China’s one-child policy, which was in place until 2015. The policy was intended to slow population growth, but it caused other issues, such as an imbalance in the gender ratio.

The rapid growth of China’s population has led to a number of social and economic issues. For instance, the housing market in the country is extremely tight, leading to overcrowding in cities and high rent prices. Additionally, the increased demand for resources has led to environmental degradation in parts of the country.

Despite the challenges that China’s population faces, it is still the most populous country in the world. Its population is projected to continue to grow, and this growth will have both positive and negative effects. China is likely to remain the most populous country for the foreseeable future.
