How Long Do Most Lizards Live?

Lizards can live from 3 to 50 years, depending on the breed and whether they live in captivity or in the wild. Therefore, how long lizards live in captivity may not be the right question. When they live in the wild, they have a lifespan of no more than three years. The smallest lizards have a lifespan of around 3 to 5 years, medium-sized lizards range from around 5 to 15 years, while large lizards can live up to 20 years.

Many live long, but their lifespan largely depends on how well you take care of their individual needs. If you don’t clean your lizard’s enclosure daily and give it fresh water daily, it will use up dirty food and water and get sick.

How Long Do Lizards Live?

The duration of a lizard’s life is heavily influenced and reliant on its environment. Living in the wild will only extend their lives to three years or less. Lizards who live in captivity, on the other hand, can live up to 20 years old.
