The largest salt mine in the United States is located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The mine is operated by the American company, Morton Salt. It produces about 8 million tons of salt per year.
The Carlsbad Caverns National Park, which includes the Lechuguilla Cave, is also located near the salt mine.
