The biggest catfish caught in Arkansas was a blue catfish weighing in at 121 pounds. The fish was caught in the White River near DeValls Bluff in May of 2005. The angler who landed the big fish, Jason Schaff, used cut shad as bait and fought the fish for over an hour before finally getting it to shore.

In fact, the state is well-known for its excellent catfishing opportunities, with several world record catches having been made here over the years.
