What Is The Flattest Country In The World?

The flattest country in the world is The Netherlands. This European country is known for its windmills, canals, and tulips. The Netherlands is also home to some of the lowest lying land on Earth. Over a quarter of the country lies below sea level. In fact, parts of The Netherlands are so low that they are actually below mean sea level!

The Dutch landscape was formed over thousands of years by glaciers, rivers, and wind. Today, about one-third of the country consists of reclaimed land that has been created by dikes (walls) and dams. Much of this land is used for agriculture or grazing cattle. With such a large percentage of the country being man-made, it's no wonder that The Netherlands is considered to be one of the flattest countries in the world!
